Utility scale solar array at end of life

Decommissioning

Commercial and utility scale solar decommissioning: safely dismantling installations, removing equipment, recovering and recycling materials, and restoring the land. Managed for environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and responsible waste disposal, and documented well enough to prove it.

Our Benefits

R2-Certified Recycling Partners

We do not hold R2 ourselves. We route recovered material through R2-certified recycling facilities and document the chain of custody.

Minimized Environmental Impact

Green decommissioning practices, with containment and handling planned before demolition starts rather than improvised on site.

Maximized Material Recovery

Modules, metals, and electronics separated for recovery, so more of the asset comes back as value instead of tipping fees.

Comprehensive Documentation

A reporting package covering material disposition and chain of custody, for regulators, lenders, and stakeholders.

Our Commitment

Decommissioning is the part of the asset lifecycle owners plan for last and get asked about first. We manage the teardown, then route recovered material through recycling facilities that hold Responsible Recycling (R2) certification. Polaris does not hold R2 itself; we select and manage the partners who do, and hand back a documented record of where every material stream went. That record is what satisfies a regulator, a lender, or a landowner who wants their site back in the condition the lease promised.

Our Process

01

Site Assessment and Planning

We evaluate the site and build a decommissioning plan around environmental protection, material recovery, and the permits and notifications the teardown will require.

02

Safe Dismantling

Certified teams dismantle modules, mounting structures, and electrical components, with handling procedures matched to what each material stream requires.

03

Recycling and Responsible Disposal

We maximize recycling across modules, metals, and electronics, working through partner facilities that hold R2 certification rather than the nearest landfill.

04

Site Restoration

We restore the site to its prior condition or prepare it for its next use, following the local environmental requirements that apply to the parcel.

05

Documentation and Certification

You receive a report covering the full process, material disposition, and the R2 documentation supplied by the certified facilities that processed each stream.
